Scientists Found a New Type of Crystal Formed by the First Nuclear Explosion

Scientists have discovered a new type of crystal, called a quasicrystal, formed from the Trinity nuclear test in 1945. The unique atomic structure, found in fused sand known as trinitite, reveals how nuclear explosions can create materials not naturally occurring on Earth.
