Discovering the Saddle Ridge Hoard
In 2013, a California couple discovered the Saddle Ridge Hoard, a cache of over 1,400 gold coins from the 19th century buried on their property. Valued at millions, it is one of the largest and most valuable buried coin treasures ever found in the United States. The coins, mostly Uncirculated $20 Double Eagles, were eventually sold to a major retailer.
