GLM 5.2 Performance Benchmarks
Artificial Analysis benchmarks show GLM 5.2 achieving competitive performance across language understanding, reasoning, and generation tasks. The model demonstrates strong results in standardized evaluations, with particular strengths in Chinese-language benchmarks while maintaining solid English-language performance.
Background
GLM-5.2 is the latest large language model from Zhipu AI (智谱AI), one of China's leading LLM developers and a key player in the country's AI race alongside Baidu, Alibaba, and ByteDance. The company is backed by Chinese government-affiliated funds and was co-founded by Tang Jie, a Tsinghua University professor. "GLM" stands for "General Language Model"; earlier versions (GLM-130B, GLM-4) were notable for being open-weight alternatives to GPT and LLaMA. GLM-5.2 benchmarks — particularly on math, code, and multilingual reasoning — are closely watched because they signal how close Chinese frontier models are to Western ones (GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini) amid export controls on advanced chips to China. The model is available via Zhipu's API and is also offered in open-weight form, which is rare among top-tier Chinese models.
