Launchpad Is Down

Launchpad is currently down. The status page provides updates on the outage and restoration progress.

Background

- Launchpad is a web-based platform, originally created by Canonical (the company behind Ubuntu), that hosts source code, bug tracking, code reviews, translations, and package-building for thousands of open-source projects (including Ubuntu itself). - It has been around since the mid-2000s and is built on a Python/Zope stack. Over the years, parts of its functionality (e.g., code hosting) have been partially supplanted by GitHub, GitLab, and others, but it remains critical for Ubuntu's development infrastructure. - When Launchpad is down, it disrupts Ubuntu developers, package maintainers, and translators, as well as many other projects that rely on it for bug reports, code hosting, and automated builds (PPAs). - The page at launchpad.net simply says "Launchpad Is Down" — a status message that has historically appeared during infrastructure failures.
