Director Steven Soderbergh pitched two James Bond concepts to producer Barbara Broccoli in 2008. One proposal involved a parallel R-rated franchise set in the 1960s with a different actor and fictional backstory to real historical events. While Broccoli was intrigued, neither project moved forward.
