Virginia county asks schools to conserve power due to AI electricity price hikes
Loudoun County, Virginia has asked all employees, including schools, to conserve electricity as rising demand from over 400 data centers—driven in part by AI—has increased grid strain and led to electricity price hikes.

- Loudoun County, Virginia (a suburb of Washington, D.C.) is home to "Data Center Alley" — the world's largest concentration of data centers, especially along the I-66/Ashburn corridor. Over 400 data centers operate there, and many more are being built.
