Titan is Saturn's largest moon and the only moon in the solar system with a thick atmosphere (mostly nitrogen, like Earth) and stable liquids — methane and ethane — on its surface, forming rivers, lakes, and even rain. This makes it chemically similar to early Earth. A crewed mission to Titan faces huge challenges: even at closest approach, Saturn is 8–10 times farther from the Sun than Earth, so solar power is minimal (nuclear or RTG power would be needed); travel time with current propulsion is about 7 years one-way; and the surface temperature is –290°F (–179°C). However, the thick atmosphere (4.5× denser than Earth's) means humans could fly with simple wingsuits, and the low gravity (14% of Earth's) makes landing and takeoff much easier than on Mars. No crewed mission to an outer planet moon has ever been seriously planned by NASA or any space agency — this study is a conceptual "what if" mapping out the engineering, not an actual proposal.
