SurrealDB is a relatively new, open-source database that combines features of traditional relational databases (SQL, tables, schemas) with document databases (JSON-like records) and graph databases (relationships between data points). It was created to simplify development by offering one database for many use cases. This blog post announces "SurrealDB Scale," a managed cloud tier designed for production workloads that need high availability (no downtime if a server fails) and horizontal scaling (adding more servers to handle more traffic). Prior to this, SurrealDB's cloud offering was more limited in these areas. The announcement targets developers and companies already using or evaluating SurrealDB who need enterprise-grade reliability.
