Background
A digital twin is a virtual replica of a physical system (e.g., a factory, building, or city) that uses real-time sensor data to simulate, monitor, and optimize performance. "Mazzap" is an open-source platform aiming to make digital-twin technology more accessible — comparable to commercial tools like AWS TwinMaker or Microsoft Azure Digital Twins, but free and community-driven. For non-experts: this matters because digital twins are central to "Industry 4.0," predictive maintenance, and smart-city planning, but they've historically required expensive proprietary software and deep integration expertise. An open-source alternative lowers the barrier for startups, researchers, and smaller organizations to experiment with and deploy digital twins without vendor lock-in or high license fees.
