Japan warns of increased risk of earthquakes at M8.0 or stronger

Japan has issued a warning about an increased risk of earthquakes measuring magnitude 8.0 or stronger, particularly in the Nankai Trough region. The government's earthquake research committee raised the probability of such a major quake occurring within the next 30 years from around 70% to 80-90%.
